NYU Langone Medical Center

Create a social media community.

NYU Langone Medical Center wanted to create a confidential, online support group for HIV-positive youth. Using social media, the Center hoped to facilitate private communications between its medical staff and these young adults, while also informing them about upcoming events and new health resources.

  • We built an active social media community—a completely private and unpublicized Facebook Group. This platform satisifies all users’ communications and confidentiality needs. After training the Center’s staff, we also educated the participating youths on how they could best connect with the medical center and each other via this “secret Facebook Group.”
  • Communication within the youth community increased 280%.
  • Group leaders realized a 37% increase in attendance at events they promoted in the group.
